What Should I Expect With CoolSculpting?

No anesthesia is required with this treatment. When the applicator is placed on the treatment area, you will feel a slight sucking sensation, followed by a cooling effect. The CoolSculpting procedure uses vacuum pressure to draw tissue into an applicator cup between cooling panels. The suction pressure may cause sensations of deep pulling and tugging. These sensations generally subside as the area becomes numb. When the treatment is complete, the applicator is detached, and you will receive a brief massage of the treated area to break up fat cells and enhance fat reduction.

CoolSculpting FAQ's

How does CoolSculpting work?

Our Austin body contouring treatment uses controlled cooling to target and crystallize fat cells. A vast body of research demonstrated that fat cells are more susceptible to cold and are selectively, permanently destroyed. Starting several weeks after the procedure, cooled fat cells begin a process called “apoptosis” and begin to shrink and disappear. In the weeks and months following treatment, remaining fat cells condense, reducing the fat layer.

What is CoolSculpting dual sculpting?

Before now, if you were looking to target unwanted fat on the love handles, you would have to receive treatment one side at a time. Now we can treat both sides at once to decrease your total treatment time. By performing dual sculpting treatments, we can provide shorter treatment times for each patient and a more flexible treatment schedule.

How long is a CoolSculpting treatment session?

A typical treatment can last from one to three hours. Dr. Leeman and the team at Mueller Surgery Center offer customized treatment plans based on your desired outcome. By performing dual sculpting treatments, we can provide shorter treatment times for each patient and a more flexible treatment schedule.

How many CoolSculpting treatments will I need?

Many patients see a noticeable reduction of fat in the treated area after one visit, but you may decide that you want additional treatments. You can expect a 20 to 25 percent reduction of fat in the treated area with one treatment session. Dr. Leeman will work with you to determine if more than one treatment is needed.

Does this procedure have FDA Clearance?

CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to safely and effectively reduce unwanted fat cells. It has FDA approval for treating nine different areas of the body:

  • Under the chin
  • Jawline
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Bra fat
  • Back fat
  • Underneath the buttocks
  • Upper arms
