Over time, your breasts can lose their perky shape, and begin to droop and sag, affecting your self-confidence. A breast lift, or in medical terms, a mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure to surgically restore your breasts to a youthful position on the chest, repair any aesthetic issues related to nipple size and location, and restore plump, rounded, youthful breasts.
What is a breast lift?
Gravity, when it comes to your body, it has some less-than-desirable effects. Combine the effects of aging and gravity with the impacts of pregnancy and breastfeeding, and you may no longer recognize yourself when you look in the mirror.
More and more women are choosing to take control of their bodies through the help of a breast lift. A breast lift helps to combat those effects by lifting your breasts into a more youthful position, restoring their perky, youthful roundness and your self-confidence in a custom surgical procedure.
What are the benefits of a breast lift?
With age, your skin loses elasticity and resilience causing your breasts to lose their rounded shape and underlying support structures. A breast lift can:
- Restore your breasts to a more youthful position
- Remove excess skin
- Restore a more pleasing, rounded shape to your breasts
- Correct asymmetry of the breasts
- Relocate and reshape nipple structure
- Restore your self-confidence
What can I expect during a breast lift?
Your breast lift will be performed in our state-of-the-art Mueller Surgical Center under general anesthesia, allowing you to rest comfortably during your procedure. Dr. Leeman will then remove excess skin from the breast tissue and surrounding area, while restoring lovely contours to your breasts. The specific technique and methodology used during your procedure will be determined by your unique needs. A breast lift typically takes between two and three hours to perform.
What is the recovery from a breast lift like?
It is not uncommon for women to experience mild to moderate swelling, tenderness, and bruising in the days following a breast lift. This can be well managed with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Leeman, as and the application of cold compresses. You should avoid strenuous activity including lifting objects and sexual activity for at least two weeks following your breast lift. It will be necessary to wear a compression garment in the initial weeks following your procedure to encourage healing, limit swelling, and keep your newly reshaped breasts supported.
How much does a breast lift cost?
A breast lift is a customized procedure. Every woman faces different aesthetic problems, which may include sagging, excess skin, aging skin, nipples that face downward, overlarge nipples, or asymmetry. The cost varies, based upon the extent of the surgery. The most important factor in a successful breast lift is the experience and skills of your surgery – shopping around for a low price is not advised, as you will be living with the results for years. Look for an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, above all.
